TSA Loose Change Act (H.R. 1095; 113th Congress)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 the text : Bill Summary & Status
113th Congress (2013 – 2014)
H.R.1095
Senator Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats are stonewalling this House passed Bil , attempting to keep the ‘found change ‘ funds which are substantial for the TSA . Whereas the House Bill , seeking Senate passage , would direct that all such ‘found change ‘ funds would be contributed to organizations , like the USO , which provide travel-related services to the members of the U.S. military and their families . The Senate Majority Dems refuse to bring it to a vote ….
Full title
To amend title 49, United States Code, to direct the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security (Transportation Security Administration) to transfer unclaimed money recovered at airport security checkpoints to nonprofit organizations that provide places of rest and recuperation at airports for members of the Armed Forces and their families, and for other purposes.
The TSA collected over $531,000 at airport checkpoints in 2012.It collected $487,000 at checkpoints in 2011.The TSA has not spent all of the money it collected in 2012.The TSA’s yearly appropriated budget is over $7 billion
On December 3, 2013, the United States House of Representatives passed the TSA Loose Change Act (H.R. 1095; 113th Congress), a bill that would require the Transportation Security Administration to turn over the $500,000 per year in loose change it collects at airport security screenings over to the private charities that provide travel-related services to the members of the U.S. military and their families. The language of the bill does not specify a specific charity by name, but only the United Service Organizations currently meets the requirements, as of December 2013.The bill still has to pass in the Senate and be signed by the President before it would become law.
Folks ; Please write your SENATORS about this important Bill . $500,000 each year would greatly help and support USO airport operations
